Meet Jessica Delio '22
Meet Jessica Delio, a junior studying Marketing and Human Resources. “I wanted to attend a smaller college because I knew that my education would be more personalized at a smaller school. When applying to schools, friends and family suggested Seton Hill. I also attended a college fair where I met a recruiter from Seton Hill. I decided to take a tour of campus and that’s when I realized Seton Hill was where I wanted to go,” says Jessica
Jessica is the treasurer of her class, a Student Ambassador, and member of the Society for Human Resources Management. Being an involved student in high school, Jessica knew she wanted to continue to do that in college, but she wasn’t sure if she would get that experience at a smaller school. “I attended an activities fair my freshman year and was pleasantly surprised by all of the opportunities that existed,” says Jessica. “Getting used to the college setting was overwhelming at first, but becoming involved in student activities helped me make that transition.”
Making the transition from high school to college was also challenging for Jessica when it came to her academics. Jessica realized that she would have to dedicate more time to completing coursework and studying than she did in high school. She says she’s proud of how quickly she adapted to that new setting and feels that the support she received from Seton Hill helped her get there. “I was never a strong writer and one of the courses all freshmen are required to take is a composition and culture course. I remember struggling at first, but my professor didn’t want to see me fail and spent one-on-one time with me to help me succeed. I also utilized the Writing Center, which helped me a lot. There are alot of great resources on campus as long as you take advantage of them,” she says.
“I’m most proud of my academic accomplishments and maintaining a high GPA” says Jessica. “A lot of that has to do with coming to Seton Hill. My professors and other resources have set me on a path to succeed and even graduate a semester early.” Jessica is one step closer to achieving her dreams.
