Meet Kim Banak '24
After learning about Seton Hill’s educational programs and other opportunities the university could offer, Kim Banak knew she wanted to study here. “I knew I was going to be able to thrive in the classroom at Seton Hill,” Kim says. “I found that having small class sizes - especially in labs - really allowed for the autonomy for me to learn and grow.” Kim was also impressed by Seton Hill’s relationship with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. “By having the direct affiliation with the medical school, it informed me that students here succeed during their undergraduate years and are prepared enough for medical school,” said Kim.
Going into her junior year, Kim is very active on campus. She was promoted from being a producer of the Seton Hill Programming Board to the Vice President of Campus Programming and Vibrancy to assist in planning and executing various programs on campus. She is also a second year Orientation Leader; she wears the yellow polo very proudly while introducing first-year students to the Hill. Being a Student Ambassador has allowed Kim to work with various students and alumni from all different backgrounds, including the opportunity to participate in Seton Hill’s Phonathon. Kim is also very involved with Campus Ministry and Service Outreach, where she serves as a Peer Minister, Eucharistic Minister, and Service Advisory Board Member. Kim takes time to participate in the Visit a Sister Program, visiting with Sr. Anita Schulte at Caritas Christi every week. “Being involved in all these organizations has really helped me to feel at home and be a part of a bigger family. I find that being a part of so many organizations lets me collaborate with a multitude of people and allows me to get to know my peers on a deeper level,” said Kim.
Kim’s long-term educational goal is to graduate from Seton Hill with her Bachelor of Health Science with a minor in Psychology and then pursue her master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies in hopes to become a physician assistant in emergency medicine. Kim credits Seton Hill’s tutoring services for helping her to achieve this goal. “Without the tutors I would not be at the level of knowledge I am at currently. The tutors have not only helped me in terms of the course, but also have given me study tips as well as life knowledge.” said Kim. “I have had and will always be grateful for the wonderful tutoring department we have on campus! The tutors have helped me push myself to be the best academic student I can be, and I will always be using the tutors to help guide me towards my educational goals!”
